Volunteering on a Teaching Project in Morocco

As a volunteer in Morocco, you will find that you are much in demand, not just from your students, but from other groups within the community. Your local teaching colleagues will be keen to practice their spoken English and brush up their grammar with you, and you will doubtless find yourself giving informal lessons to members of your host family. This is a fantastic way for you to create bonds with these people, and begin to feel at home in their culture!

There are also possibilities in some schools for volunteers to become involved in extra-curricular English clubs and drama groups and, if you have interests in other areas which you would like to bring to your students, do please let us know when you apply.

Teach English to Moroccans  underprivileged children, adolescents and adults when you volunteer with our Teach English Program in Marrakech
 

As a volunteer with our Teach English Program, you will be working in local community centers that desperately need teachers and support from native English speakers. You will be responsible for planning your own classes according to your students’ needs and teaching those lessons with creativity, patience and compassion. You will also have to opportunity to help students with their homework, organize games, and assist with administrative work.

Volunteers in Marrakech will not only be teaching English to students who would otherwise have little or no language instruction, but will also have the opportunity to mentor and be a role model for young Moroccan at a critical time in their lives.

As a volunteer you can:

• Create lesson plans, develop curriculums and design course materials (flash cards, handouts, activities, etc.)
• Teach classes to children, adolescents and adults
• Help students with English homework after school
• Organize book drives
• Fundraise and collect donations of materials (crayons, markers,     colored paper, notebooks, scissors, pencils, etc.)
• Organize field trips
• Develop special English workshops (i.e., games, songs, drama, writing, art, etc.)
• Assist with administrative tasks and record-keeping

As a host organisation we will provide:

• Support to the volunteer (task related and personal support, mentor contact person)
• Visit to community service projects.
• Accommodation
• Placement in community service project.
• Ongoing support by local volunteer coordinator.
• Volunteer work (from 8 to 12 weeks).
• Language training 3 times per week to include class materials orientation, and extra-curricular and class-related activities
